     On Thursday, November 20, 2025, we proved once again what happens when educators stand together. A Federal jury ruled in favor of one of our Union members in a case against the Jackson Public School District (JPS), affirming the protections guaranteed under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

     The jury didn’t just recognize the injustice — they awarded our member $80,000 in lost wages, benefits, and damages. That’s not just compensation; it’s a powerful statement that our rights matter, our voices matter, and our Union matters.

On Monday, December 8, 2025, JFT, in partnership with the Central Mississippi Central Labor Council, proudly sponsored a coat giveaway at Pecan Park Elementary School.

Together, we distributed nearly 80 coats and jackets to students, ensuring that many young scholars will stay warm and comfortable this winter. The joy on their faces reminded us why community partnerships matter—because when we come together, we can make a real difference.

Date of January Dues Draft:  Friday, Dec 19*

Dues drafts will resume normal schedule on Feb 1.

*Retirees in the eDues system will be drafted Jan 01 to coincide with your pension deposit.

Also, the previous newsletter stated Friday, 12/20.  That was an error on our part, and we apologize for any confusion.

We typically adjust the dues draft system in December to match payday for school districts and to help you avoid banking issues at the new year. As a reminder, you will receive your December paycheck BEFORE you go home for Christmas break.
